Tony Lippett, WR/DB

-

College: Michigan State Round 5: Pick 20 (156) Height: 6-foot-2 Weight: 192 pounds

Comment: 2014 First-team All Big Ten. Played offense, defense and special teams in the Spartans’ win over Baylor in the Cotton Bowl. Lippett was the team MVP and finished his senior year as both starting wide receiver and starting cornerback. Was targeted eight times for just 13 receiving yards with three passes defensed. Play strength is below average as a blocker and downfield receiver, and Lippett does not possess strong hands to resist heavy contact. Should the long-strider work on becoming better-rounded with his routes, Lippett can succeed as a starter with a strong drive. His height and lengthy limbs contribute to his usefulness in outjumping and outreaching most corners. Lippett dominated smaller cornerbacks in the red zone and had 65 receptions, 1,198 receiving yards, and 11 touchdowns during his senior year. On his skill set, he says, “Very confident in my ability … I’m going to try to fill this position as best as I can.”
