Yankees: General manager Brian Cashman says the team doesn’t plan to pay a $6 million bonus to Alex Rodriguez for his 660th home run. “We have the right, but not the obligation to do something, and that’s it,” Cashman said. Rodriguez missed last season because of a drug suspension and the Yankees didn’t market his pursuit of Mays’ mark. ... RHP Ivan Nova pitched at extended spring training — his first game since elbow ligament replacemen­t surgery last year.

Brewers: OF Carlos Gomez (strained right hamstring) was activated from the 15-day disabled list. He went 1-for-3 with an RBI single, stole two bases and scored a run in a 6-1 win over the Cubs. IF Luis Jimenez was designated for assignment.

Red Sox: C Ryan Hanigan is expected to be out until at least the All-Star break after fracturing his right pinkie in Friday’s loss to the Yankees. He was placed on the DL following surgery and C Blake Swihart was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket. Swihart had an infield single in the fifth inning for his first major-league hit.

Marlins: OF Christian Yelich will begin a rehab assignment Sunday with Class A Jupiter. Yelich, who has been on the DL since April 24 with a lower back strain, hopes to return to the team Thursday. ... RHP Henderson Alvarez (shoulder) and RHP Mat Latos (hamstring) threw bullpen sessions Saturday with hopes of rejoining the rotation within the next two weeks.
