Rail service will help South Florida

-

As a member of the Boca Raton City Council and the Metropolitan Planning Organization, I have come to recognize the necessity for multimodal solutions to our transportation needs.

We cannot continue to pave our way to a solution as our roads become more congested.

Rail travel is a welcome transportation alternative which has, and will continue to be, embraced by many people commuting to and from Boca Raton.

We have one of the busiest Tri-Rail stations along the entire route. We anticipate those ridership numbers will continue to increase, especially as we begin to plan for a second Tri-Rail station in our city and with the introduction of the Tri-Rail Coastal Link project.

More people will be able to live or work in Boca Raton and along the densest parts of South Florida and have a safe, reliable and convenient way to travel between the major destinations.

The addition of All Aboard Florida as part of an inter-modal transportation solution will offer additional opportunities for our residents as it will bring the infrastructure required for Tri-Rail Coastal Link and an express service connecting South Florida to Central Florida.

I feel confident, once built, people will find it more convenient to ride the rails than fight through the I-95 traffic.
