A Fort Lauderdale man serving time for burglarizing cars in Plantation got out of state prison Saturday to face charges that he stole cash and valuables from vehicles parked in three different places in the Florida Keys in 2013.

Darrell Bush, 21, was booked into custody Saturday in Monroe County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bond for eight counts of coordinating with others in a theft of more than $3,000. He had been sentenced to up to five years in prison in March 2014, with 97 days of credit for time served.

On July 29, 2013, Bush and three others from Broward County smashed the windows of eight cars parked at the Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key, Long Key Bridge and Robbie’s Marina in Islamorada, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

They took cell phones, computers, cameras, cash, credit cards and jewelry, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Police stopped the car they were riding in at about U.S. 1 Mile Marker No. 90 because the car matched the description of the one involved in the crimes. The quartet took off in the car and turned onto Coconut Row. There, the four occupants ran from the car on foot.

The stolen items were found in of the ditched car.

Bush was found at a bus stop nearby. He gave the officer a false name when he was approached.

His accomplices charged in the incident were Darrion Donaldson, 31, of Planation, Lawanda Finley, 23, of Fort Lauderdale and Dominique Hill, 23, of Fort Lauderdale.

No other information was available about their status Saturday.
