Topping ceremony held for apartments

Suffolk Constructi­on recently “topped off” the City Center at Pembroke Pines, a 768,000-square-foot apartment community.

The project, at Pines Boulevard and Palm Avenue, is the first within the City Center developmen­t.

Contractor­s routinely hold topping off ceremonies to commemorat­e adding the last beam to a building. City Center at Pembroke Pines is expected to open in the first quarter of 2016.

Suffolk is based in Brooklyn, Md., but has a regional headquarte­rs in West Palm Beach.

New brokerage opens in South Florida

Jeffrey A. Kahn has started a new real estate firm, South Florida Home Pros.

The Fort Lauderdale-based brokerage will specialize in new condominiu­ms and golf course communitie­s across Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

Kahn, a former president of the Realtor Associatio­n of Greater Fort Lauderdale, most recently was with Macken Realty in Fort Lauderdale. He has been an agent since 1993.

Wieder Realty joins Century 21 network

Wieder Realty Inc. of Pompano Beach has become an affiliate of Century 21 Real Estate.

The firm now will operate as Century 21 Wieder Realty, serving Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Broker-owner Randy Harden took control of Wieder in 2007. The firm, with 31 agents, was started by his grandparen­ts in 1986.

Delray plaza fetches $10.75 million

The Delray Commons shopping plaza has sold for $10.75 million.

World Gym anchors the 68,000-square-foot center at 5068 W. Atlantic Ave. Other tenants include CJ’s Sports Bar & Grill and Burger King.

The CBRE firm represente­d the seller, an entity tied to Boca Ratonbased Pebb Enterprise­s. The buyer was Mall 5020 LLC.

Law firm to hold free board member courses

The Becker & Poliakoff law firm will conduct three courses in July for community associatio­ns in South Florida.

The firm will conduct two sessions of a class on becoming a board member. The first session will be 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 10 at the Becker & Poliakoff office in Fort Lauderdale, 1 E. Broward Blvd. The second class will be July 15 at the firm’s West Palm Beach office, 625 N. Flagler Drive.

A course on emotional support animals is planned for July 15. On July 16, the firm will address the 40-year recertific­ation process in Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
