School bus catches fire in Jupiter

A school bus caught fire in Jupiter, officials said, but no one was hurt.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue officials said at about 7:45 a.m., crews responded to a bus fire at Hibiscus and Pennock Point roads in Jupiter. A fire was in the bus’ rear engine compartment.

The children on the bus had gotten off and were standing in a driveway of a nearby home at a safe distance, officials said.

Firefighters extinguished the fire. Fire Rescue spokesman Capt. Al Borroto said the bus driver is to be commended for “quick and clear thinking” in the safe evacuation of the bus.
