Man’s body found in Lauderdale Lakes canal

LAUDERDALE LAKES — After a man’s body was found floating in a Lauderdale Lakes canal on Monday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said it was investigating a possible drowning.
Yves Cledor, 63, was the person recovered from the water, spokeswoman Gina Carter said.
“This appears to be an accidental drowning,” Carter said. “Detectives have found nothing suspicious about the death so far in the investigation. He may have simply fallen into the water.”

discovscreams. Gina Carter, Broward Sheriff ’s spokeswoman ered about 9:15 a.m. in the 4900 block of Northwest 42nd Street, in a waterway behind the man’s home, Carter said.
Neighbor Wayne Pottinger, 50, lives two doors from Cledor’s home and said he heard “I heard a commotion outside,” he said. “My next-door neighbor told me to call 911, which I did without hesitation.”
When Pottinger went outside, he said he saw Cledor’s white T-shirt in the water.
“His wife was hysterical,” Pottinger said.
The canal is south of West Commercial Boulevard, between Florida’s Turnpike and State Road 7.
