Self defense seems to happen fairly rarely

What am I missing? We hear continually for the need to have guns in order to protect ourselves and our families. However, I do not recall reports of that happening. Unless the gun is out “on the table,” it is unlikely to be available in time of need.

On the other hand, the media is replete with stories of innocent people and family members being accidentally shot by gun owners. It is essential that gun owners act responsibly to keep their guns safely stored to avoid these problems.
