Focus moves toward collaborat­ive-learning strategy

Cooper City High School is among six Broward County schools to add new education programs this year.

Virtual Enterprise­s Internatio­nal programswi­ll be introduced to another five high schools and two middle schools. The projectbas­ed, collaborat­ive learning program is intended to improve the skills of students in the fields of problem solving, communicat­ion, entreprene­urship, global business, personal finance and technology.

The program will also be introduced in Coral Springs High School, Cypress Bay High School, Hollywood Hills High School, Stranahan High School, Millennium Middle School and Apollo Middle School.

Two other schools became first in the county to launch the the program last year, which includes special classrooms that replicate office space with conference areas, work desks, white board walls for brainstorm­ing and a reception desk.

Other programs are on the horizon this year as well. Nine advanced placement Digital Edge Programs will be launched in six schools this year, thus bringing the total number to 22 programs in 13 schools. The programs will offer students a chance to earn industry while working on

Monarch High School in Coconut Creek is among the schools where the program is being launched. The school will offer digital edge programs in AP 2D Art/ Photoshop, AP English Language & Compositio­n/Microsoft Word.
