Calvary’s Uyaelunmo commits to play at USC

FORT LAUDERDALE — This summer, 7-foot center Victor Uyaelunmo found a new home for his senior year of high school, transferri­ng to Calvary Christian fromMiami Gulliver Prep.

After moving one county to the north, he has now decided to spend his college basketball career outwest.

Uyaelunmo, a four-star prospect who until recently was ranked No. 84 in the country by ESPN among Class of 2017 prospects, committed to Southern Cal on Friday at an event at his school, surrounded by family,

Uyaelunmo chose the Trojans overTennes­see and Vanderbilt.

“Itwas the best fit for me academical­ly and athletical­ly,” Uyaelunmo said. “The basketball coaches really wanted me to come, and I thought itwas the best place for me.

“They told me how they were going to use me, and they have a couple of guys leaving this year, so I just fit in right.”
