Visitors learn about how famous artists shared love through art

The Young at Art Museum in Davie recently brought Valentine’s Day celebratio­ns to families during its 2017 Love Fest.

Visitors ofthemuseu­mwereable to learn about famous artists and how they shared and expressed their love to the world through art. The children were also able to create their own artwork inspired by the day of love, among other activities.

Mindy Shrago, the executive director and CEO of the museum, said that is important for them to show that love is significan­t and that it is everywhere.

“We want to really teach kids to love and respect everybody — their neighbors, their friends, their teachers, their parents,” Shrago said. “That is part of who we are, but then on another note, we’re making really cool art that ties into Valentine’sDay.”

Tia Dubuisson, a member of the museum, brought her daughters Jolie and Tiana, ages 9 and 6, respective­ly, for the celebratio­n of love. She said the fest was a special opportunit­y to express their affection for one another in a unique way.

“For us, I think it’s a love fest every day,” Dubuisson said. “It’s just extra to have the balloons and the activities that they have going on here.”

Dubuissoni­s especially­appreciati­ve thisValent­ine’sDay of what the museum has done for her daughters in terms of giving them the access to be creative. She added the museum has helped her daughters gain a sense of accomplish­ment through art.

“These kids are all walking around with stories of love and what have you, but to be able to cometoanev­entwhere that is actually extracted and put down onto something that’s tangible - this is what the museum here is for and it empowers them,” Dubuisson said.

The girls have even started their own business through their experience­s at the museum called Belle
