Test­ing and hir­ing stan­dards should make more sense

Mon­day’s ar­ti­cle “Par­ents turn to pri­vate schools” was en­light­en­ing. While I ap­prove of the as­sis­tance to lower in­come fam­i­lies to give them this op­tion, I can­not un­der­stand why, for the life of me, they are not re­quired to have the same stan­dards re­gard­ing test­ing and hir­ing of cer­ti­fied teach­ers. This­makes the­w­hole idea of op­tions a sham.

In ad­di­tion, the crooked char­ter school op­er­a­tor­swhoopena school, suck off pub­lic funds for self-en­rich­ment, file bank­ruptcy and do so again and again un­der new names are an em­bar­rass­ment.
