Vehicles destroyed in parking lot fire
At least one car and an SUV were destroyed and other vehicles damaged when a car in a Lauderdale Lakes apartment complex parking lot caught fire and burned.
A call shortly before 2 a.m. Monday indicated that one car was on fire at 2550 NW 39th Way and flames were quickly spreading to other vehicles nearby, said Mike Jachles, a spokesman for Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue.
Social media images fromthe fire show one car fully engulfed in flames. The car that initially caught fire was destroyed as was at least one or two others. Some other nearby vehicles were charred.
By first light, the destroyed vehicles had been towed away, but ash, glass and debris littered the parking spaces where they had been.
No injuries were reported, Jachles said.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
Charred debris is all that is left after several cars burned Monday in Lauderdale Lakes.
