Light­ning deal Boyle to Maple Leafs

The Light­ning traded for­ward Brian Boyle to the Maple Leafs on Mon­day, a day af­ter send­ing goalie Ben Bishop to the Kings.

In ex­change, the Light­ning will re­ceive a 2017 sec­on­dround draft pick and mi­nor league for­ward By­ron Froese.

Boyle, 32, is a pend­ing un­re­stricted free agent. He has 13 goals and nine as­sists in 54 games this sea­son.

Light­ning gen­eral man­ager Steve Yz­er­man said ear­lier Mon­day that he still hoped to make the play­offs. They’re seven points be­hind the Leafs, who hold the sec­ond and fi­nal Eastern Con­fer­ence wild-card spot.

The Stars ac­quired D Greg Pateryn and 2017 fourth-round pick fromthe Cana­di­ens for D Jordie Benn. ...
