FAU’sWoods charged with battery, suspended
Florida Atlantic wide receiver KalibWoods was arrested on Tuesday and charged with two counts of felony battery, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office online records.
The school says he has been suspended from the football team indefinitely.
Woods, 22, was booked into Palm Beach County’s Main Detention Center on Tuesday morning at 10:47 a.m. and was held on $50,000 bond. Woods’ arraignment is scheduled for June 27 at 1:30 p.m.
According to online records, the offense occurred on Jan. 13. Information was filed againstWoods onMay 26, and a warrant for his arrestwas signedMay 31.
Further details about the case were not immediately available.
“We are aware of the matter with Kalib Woods,” an FAU spokesperson said. “He was suspended from the team on Tuesday and will remain suspended pending the outcome of the charges.”
Court documents state that Woods “may attend school and school activities.” Woods’ bond conditions also include no contact with victim, no contact with witnesses, no weapons, and no social media.
WhenFAUhosted camps for high school football players last week, Woods helped coach the receivers.
Woods, entering his redshirt senior season, led Owls receivers last season with 68 catches for 934 yards. He also caught one touchdown and figured to be a key cog in FAU’s offense for first-year coach Lane Kiffin.
The 6-foot-3, 193-pound native of Jacksonville was a team captain last season and earned Conference USA Honorable Mention accolades.
