Florida Atlantic wide receiver Kalib Woods is accused of breaking a man’s jaw and causing internal bleeding in another man during a fight at a party in January, according to a police report released Thursday by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Woods, 22, was arrested and charged with two counts of felony battery Tuesday. FAU suspended him from its football team indefinitely, “pending the outcome of the charges,” the school saidWednesday.

Woods and the two victims — Stephan Reese and Adrian Muckle — were at a party at 7600 W. Camino Real in Boca Raton in the early morning hours on Jan. 13, according to the police report. Muckle said in an affidavit that Woods “approached me with no Tshirt and said remember all that stuff youwere talking.”

Both Reese and Muckle told investigators that Woods then tried to punch Muckle but instead hit Reese, knocking him to the ground.

“At that point Kalib and several unknown subjects began punching and kicking Stephan and Adrian while they were on the ground,” the affidavit said.

Reese told police that the venue’s security broke up the fight, and that Muckle drove him to West Boca Medical Center for treatment later that day.

Muckle told police he discovered internal bleeding when his urine was “real darkandblack.” Hewas hospitalized for five days, the affidavit said.

On Jan. 20, Reese underwent surgery “to reconstruct his broken jawcaused by the impact of Kalib striking him in the face,” Reese’s mother said in the affadavit. Reese’s mouth was wired shut and he was unable to eat solid foods for several weeks, according to the affidavit.

Reese told investigators that Woods was upset with Muckle over a foul in a basketball game over a year ago. Muckle saidWoods initiated the incident “because in the past I have received several threats from him in person multiple times and over social media (Twitter) where he basically states at the next eventheseenmehe was going to assaultme.”

Palm Beach County police booked Woods into the county’s Main Detention Center at 10:47 a.m. Tuesday and held him on $50,000 bond. Woods’ arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. June 27.

Court documents stated that Woods could “attend schooland school activities.”

At a school event in Fort Lauderdale, FAU Athletic Director Pat Chun said the school would handle suspensions on a case-by-case basis. He added that the athletic department’s rules are superceded by the law and then campus rules or student affairs.

“We’re kind of the third priority between the law, whatever policies are on campus or student affairs and then it’s us,” Chun said. “Every case is always going to be very different at the end of the day.”

During the event, FAU coach Lane Kiffin was not made available for an interview.

Woods is the Owls’ leading returning receiver after hauling in 68 catches for 934 yards last season. He also caught one touchdown pass and earned ConferenceUSA Honorable Mention accolades.

Woods, a redshirt senior, was a team captain last year and figured to be a big piece in FAU’s offense for Kiffin.
