Clinton calls for end of ‘us vs. them’
Former President Bill Clinton stressed the importance of inclusion, diversity and collaboration to more than 250 mayors from throughout the country attending the 85th annual meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Miami Beach.
His 40-minute speech Saturday at the FontainebleauHotelwas the conference’s marquee event. In it, Clinton emphasized the problem of “tribalism,” saying there is a sentiment slicing through society where citizens have little tolerance for differing political views.
“It’s become us versus them. I want us to win, and in order for us to win, they have to lose… if you did that you’d be out of a job,” Clinton told the mayors who lead cities with populations of at least 30,000. The largest state contingent, from
