State supports stormproofing
The Florida Division of Emergency Management has awarded$194,000to the Broward Housing Finance and Community Redevelopment Division for the purpose of strengthening homes in the Broward Municipal Services District against hurricanes and storms. Residents on the waitlist of income-eligible homeowners are prioritized for assistance, which may include repairs to stormproof windows, doors and roofs. The funds come as a no-interest fiveyear mortage, which requires the owner to occupy the property for five years and does not need to be repaid if requirements are met. Visit broward.org/ housing.
