Medical Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center appointed Dianne Goldenberg as the hospital’s new chief executive officer, responsible for all operations, executive planning and medical services of the 199-bed acute care hospital. Nestor Megano as its Associate of the Year. Megano is a cardiovascular perfusionist, responsible for the selection, setup and operation of a heart-lung machine. Perfusionists often function in supportive roles for other medical specialties in operating mechanical devices to assist in the conservation of blood during surgery. They also provide long-term support of the patient’s circulation outside of the operating room. Amemberof the American Society of Extracorporeal Technology and the Florida Perfusion Society, Megano supports the American Heart Association and is active in the Filipino Catholic Ministry at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in BocaRaton. Breast surgical oncologist Dr. Jane Mendez has joined the teamof cancer specialists at Miami Cancer Institute, a part of Baptist Health South Florida, as chief of breast surgery. Previously, Mendez was a surgical oncologist at Boston Medical Center, where shewas president of the medical and dental staff. She alsoworked as director of surgical clerkship and as associate professor of surgery at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Rani Gereige, director of medical education at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, has been appointed to the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Committee on Continuing Medical Education. Gereige, a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, will serve a six-year termon the committee. Gereige serves as Clinical Professor, Volunteer Faculty in the Department of Pediatrics at Florida International University College of Medicine. He is the chairman of the Continuing Medical Education Taskforce in the Florida pediatric Society/Florida chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and amember of the Florida School Health Education Consortium.
