Thanks to county delegation for safeguarding trauma care system

- RickSartory, executive director, ProtectPalmBeach County TraumaCare

On behalf of the Protect Palm Beach County Trauma Care coalition, Iwould like to thank the Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation for theirwork in Tallahassee this legislative session to preserve Florida’s quality trauma care system for another year.

According to the Florida Chapter of American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma, Florida’s existing trauma care system is recognized as a national model for its scope and quality. In fact, Florida’s trauma centers are strategically located across the state to achieve the highest quality trauma care in the most efficient manner possible.

We applaud our elected officials for ensuring our trauma care system here in Palm Beach County and across the great state of Florida remains intact. Florida’s families and visitors alike simply cannot afford any erosion of the years of progress made toward building a trauma care system that is the envy of our country. Trauma readiness and expertisewithin our communities is not something that should be experimented with in a vacuum, because the consequences are life or death.

When the Florida Legislature reconvenes next year, it’s possible Florida’s quality trauma care system will be under attack by special interests again. We are grateful to knowthat our local legislators are in Tallahassee to fight back for Palm Beach County families and visitors. Thank you, Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation, for ensuring Florida’s trauma care system remains one of the best in the nation.
