Q: Is there a projected completion date for the roadwork that has restricted traffic onMartin Luther King Jr. Boulevard inPompano Beach and Coconut Creek between Powerline Road and Florida’s Turnpike? It seems the road has been under construction, off and on, for quite some time with seemingly a lot still to be done.— DanHobby, Coconut Creek

A: The$4millionStreetscape Improvement Project should be wrapping up by the end of August, according to Sandra King, with the City of Pompano Beach.

“It will include new sidewalks, bus shelters, landscaped medians, new street lighting, and upgraded utilities, includingwater, sewageanddrainage,” she said.

That stretch of road will be repaved to restore two lanes in each direction, east andwest.

The construction started in January and is designed to improve the increasingly busy corridor that handles traffic from Powerline Road, Northwest 27th, 30th, and 31st avenues, Florida’s Turnpike and the north campus of Broward College. An estimated 24,000 vehicles traveled that road each day last year, according to the Florida Department ofTransportation.

Q: I travel onMcNab Road upto eight times perday. I am forced to stop at the light at Northwest 21st Avenue about 65 percent of the time. The traffic gets really backed up onMcNab during rush hours.
