Man killed teen, buried her in backyard, cops say

The19-year-oldwent to a Tamarac hotel for a paid sexual encounter. When she left, her body was crammed into a blue plastic storage container that was later buried in a Fort Lauderdale backyard.

Arrested in Brittney Taylor’s death was Tyquan Pearson, 25.

Pearson was transferre­d Tuesday froma Virginia jail to a Broward County Jail, where he is being held without bond on a murder charge, records show.

Taylor was last seen alive May 25 when she was dropped off at the Comfort Suites, 8301W. Commercial Blvd., Joy Oglesby, a spokeswoma­n for the Broward Sheriff ’s Office.

Investigat­ors say Pearson was living at the hotel at the time.

He had solicited Taylor online for a sexual encounter, Oglesby said.

When detectives interviewe­d Pearson about Taylor’s disappeara­nce, he said thatwhenhi­s girlfriend told him she was on her way to the hotel, he told Taylor to wait until he was gone and then let herself out, Oglesby said.

The investigat­ion led detectives to a Fort Lauderdale home where on June 10 they found Taylor’s remains inside the container and buried in the backyard, Oglesby said.

Pearson was arrested on a warrant June 14 in Norfolk, Va.
