Water taxis extend route
Soon you’ll be able to ride from Hollywood to Pompano
POMPANOBEACH— A new service soon will let you takewater taxis on the IntracoastalWaterway all theway fromPompano Beach toHollywood.
Pompano BeachWater Taxi plans to start the service in October, linking stops into northern Broward County to Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi’s system. It’ll be ideal for locals and tourists alike, includingwannabe seafarers without boats andwaterside pub crawlers. Among the travel options: About $35 will get you a ticket to ride the waves all day fromas far north as Lighthouse Point to southern Fort Lauderdale. For a four-hour trek fromnorthern Broward to Hollywood, it’ll cost a bit more.
About $20 will get you fromLighthouse Point to as far as Bokampers restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. (The price for Pompano residentswould be discounted to $15.)
“It’s long overdue,” said Jeff Torode, one of the main forces behind the newwater taxi company.“We’re really excited about it.”

Additional stops are under discussion, Torode said.
Some being considered are BlueMoon Fish Co. or Benihana restaurants in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Hillsboro Inlet Park, the NautiDawgMarina Cafe and Cap’s Place Island Restaurant, both in Lighthouse Point.
