UM adds a pair of alternate uniforms
CORAL GABLES — Another football season, another set of new duds for the Hurricanes.
Miami, which went with a more traditional, retro look for its uniforms last season, will add to two alternates to its ‘Legend of the U’ collection with a set of all-green and all-black uniforms, the school and its apparel outfitter adidas announced Thursday.
The Hurricanes will wear their green uniforms — dubbed the “State of Miami” — at Hard Rock Stadium on Sept. 23 against Toledo. The black uniforms — called “Miami Nights” — will make their debut when Miami hosts Georgia Tech in a nationally televised Thursday night ESPN game on Oct. 12.
“Building off the retro theme of ‘Legend of the U’ uniforms that debuted in 2016, University of Miami and adidas Football sought to create throwback uniforms that echo the past while looking to the future,” Miami and adidas said in a joint statement.
According to adidas and Miami, the green “State of Miami” uniforms will have jerseys and pants highlighted with white stripes and orange outlines to match the white numbers with orange outlines on the jerseys. White helmets, white socks, accessories and cleats will complement the look.
The “Miami Nights” uniforms, meanwhile, will have black jerseys and pants highlighted with green stripes and accented with orange outlines to offset white numbers with orange outlines on the jerseys. The Hurricanes will wear black helmets, black socks and have accessories and cleats with orange accents when they wear those particular uniforms.
