More respect needed for national anthem Read more letters

This business of showing disrespect when the national anthem is played has gone entirely too far. While it is disgraceful how a few ballplayers have acted, whatever their true reasons, the real culprits are the owners of those teams that have allowed this to happen. Whether you own a department store, a grocery, or even a stadium, it is a place of business and an owner sets the rules of behavior of how an employee acts during work hours when he/she is “on the clock.”

George Steinbrenner had his share of faults but, when he said you had to be clean-shaven and no beards, everyone knew what they had to do. For owners of these teams to allow demonstrations during working hours and on/in their properties tells one and all that their only interest is the almighty buck, and that they do not have an ounce of patriotism when the money conflicts with their country. Shame on them. And shame on you if you never speak up. SunSentinel.com/ opinion/letters
