The incident began shortly after 6 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-95 in northern Palm Beach County when the driver of a Chevrolet pickup came up behind Shepherd, who was driving a Subaru Outback, Wysocky said.

Shepherd tapped his brakes. That’s when the pickup driver, John Trevor Whiting, 52, of Stuart, passed Shepherd and cut in front of him, Wysocky said.

Shepherd pulled up next to Whiting and put at least one bullet hole in the door, Wysocky Whiting was not hit.

Both drivers pulled over near Military Trail and Shepherd displayed his semi-automatic handgun, Wysocky said.

The men got pickup’s said. back into their vehicles, continued southbound and eventually exited the interstate at Blue Heron Boulevard. There they were met by Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies and state troopers.
