Job fair offers positions from city planners to customer service

SUNRISE — More than 2,500 jobs are available at a job fair Wednesday in Sunrise, according to job fair organizer Job News USA.

The job fair is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the BB&T Center, One Panther Parkway.

Employers scheduled include: Darby Dental, the City of Sunrise, customer service company Global Response, discount grocer Aldi, highspeed internet company Hotwire Communicat­ions, charter school management firm Academia; and NHL hockey club Florida Panthers. Some highlights: Online pet food retailer Chewy will be at the job fair to help fill 150 customer service positions open at its new Hollywood customer service center.

Intercruis­es Shore Side & Port Services will interview for about 150 pier check-in agents to work at Port Everglades.

Off Lease Only is interviewi­ng for a new dealership, as well as 100 positions at its locations in North Lauderdale, Miami and West Palm Beach. The company is looking for workers in sales, finance, insurance, and for service technician­s.

There is a broad variety of jobs including: sales, city planners, software developers, travel advisers, teachers, security profession­als, customer service representa­tives, engineers, service technician­s, pipe fitters, police officers, dental hygienists, warehouse and material handlers.

Tiffany Price, general manager for the job fair, recommends job seekers research employers they’re interested in before attending the fair and have a “clear focus” in talking about their career and the job they want.
