Hurricanes’ ACC men’s basketball schedule set
CORAL GABLES Ahead of the season, expectations are high for the Miami Hurricanes men’s basketball team, which returns a talented core of players and has added some of the nation’s top freshmen.
And Miami’s ACC schedule — released Thursday — reflects those expectations, with the Hurricanes set to take play in nine nationally televised games this season, including two games on ESPN’s “Big Monday” broadcast.
The Hurricanes, who have made three NCAA Tournament appearances in the past five years, are set to host perennial ACC power Duke on Jan. 15 at the Watsco Center in their first “Big Monday” game, and will travel to Notre Dame on Feb. 19 for their second.
Miami will travel to North Carolina to face the defending national champion Tar Heels on Feb. 27.
In all, the Hurricanes will face six ACC teams that qualified for the ACC Tournament.
“Year in and year out, the ACC is the best basketball conference in the country from top to bottom and this year will be no exception,” Hurricanes head coach Jim Larrañaga said in a statement.
The Hurricanes are set to open ACC play Dec. 30 at Pittsburgh. Their ACC home opener is set for Jan. 7 against Florida State. The non-conference games in the schedule were previously announced.
