A history teacher at Ramblewood Middle School in Coral Springs is facing two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor after two intoxicated 16-year-olds were found in his car after hours at a Pompano Beach park, according to an arrest report.

David Michael Stokes, 45, of North Lauderdale, has been removed from the classroom and administratively reassigned, a spokeswoman for the Broward County School District said.

Deputies from the Broward Sheriff ’s Office encountered Stokes and the teens in a Honda Accord at about 2:50 a.m. Friday in a closed park near the Pompano Beach pier, the report said.

“Both juveniles were visibly intoxicated with slurred speech and were unbalanced on their feet,” the report said.

The report did not say if the teens were boys or girls.

The teens told police Stokes picked them up at their homes without their parents knowing it and gave them alcohol.

One of the teens had also taken 24 cough drops, bought by Stokes, to enhance intoxication, the report said.

Stokes was arrested for trespassing in the closed park. He also faces two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The misdemeanors are each punishable by a maximum of 364 days in jail.
