Richards may miss next matchup
Miami coach Mark Richt said Miami is being cautious with the progress of injured receiver Ahmmon Richards.
The sophomore missed the Hurricanes’ opener against Bethune-Cookman on Sept. 2 with a hamstring injury, and Richt said his status for Saturday’s showdown with Toledo at Hard Rock Stadium is questionable.
“He looks a little cautious, which is understandable. It was a severe pull. It’s been almost a month. That’s a long time for a pull. But when it happened, we were just thankful that when we did the MRI that we didn’t have something worse than it was. We’re all being cautious, but on the other hand, somewhere along the line, you got to let it go. Hamstrings are the ones you just have to be careful with,” Richt said. Richards isn’t the only ’Cane banged up. Richt said linebacker Michael Pinckney, who also started the season with a hamstring pull, and receiver Jeff Thomas are both fine heading into Wednesday’s practice.
Junior Kendrick Norton left South Florida and headed home to Jacksonville in anticipation of Hurricane Irma before going to Orlando to join his teammates at Disney’s Wide World of Sports complex.
“I went back to Jacksonville just to be with my family,” the defensive tackle said Wednesday. “... It was fine over there in my area.” Norton said he tried to train during his time home. “I did stuff in the house: pushups, situps and we some curls and stuff in our garage,” he said.
