Bradford ‘better,’ may play Sunday

- Tribune news services

Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford said his left knee is “feeling better” this week, raising the possibility he’ll return from injury after only a one-game absence and play Sunday against the Bucanneers.

Bradford took limited turns last week. After going through warmups against the Steelers, Bradford was ruled out. Case Keenum took over for Bradford. The Vikings lost 26-9.

Dolphins coach Adam Gase said he’ll decide later if he will let linebacker Lawrence Timmons rejoin the team.

Timmons was suspended indefinitely after he went AWOL Saturday, the day before the Dolphins’ season-opening victory over the Chargers.

“Every situation’s different, and I would say that you can be forgiven if the right steps are taken,” Gase said.

The Dolphins suspended Timmons on Tuesday, when they also acquired linebacker Stephone Anthony from the Saints for a 2018 fifthround draft pick.

Coach Marvin Lewis told Bengals players that more changes are coming if they continue to lose, and the next job lost could be theirs.

The Bengals fired offensive coordinator Ken Zampese a few hours after their 13-9 loss to the Texans on Thursday night.

The Bengals (0-2) are the first team since the 1939 Eagles to open a season with a pair of home games and fail to score a touchdown. They have scored an NFL-low nine points. Rams 23, 49ers 16.

The previous team to score so few points in a pair of season-opening home games was the 1949 Packers.
