NORTH PALM BEACH — After a two-week layoff due to Hurricane Irma, Benjamin wasted no time getting back on track in its return to the field.

Louisville quarterback commit Jordan Travis threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as the Bucs raced past visiting Miami La Salle 35-6 on Wednesday afternoon. Benjamin led 35-0 at halftime and played most of its reserves in the second half. La Salle scored its lone points on the final play of the afternoon.

The Bucs won’t return to action till next week as Friday night’s game at Key West was canceled earlier this week due to Irma.

“It feels great to be back on the field with my boys,” said Travis. “We’ve been working hard, so let’s hope it keeps going.”

Benjamin (2-1) jumped out to a quick 14-0 first quarter lead thanks to running back Addison Matevia. The sophomore scored on a pair of 3-yard rushing touchdowns to give the Bucs a double-digit lead.

In the second quarter, Travis showed why he’s one of the most coveted quarterback prospects in the nation. The senior evaded a group of defenders in the backfield, changed direction and sprinted down the left sideline for a 65-yard touchdown run.

“I was just trying to make a play Travis “They blocks score.”
