Anthony Schwartz’s final game of his high school career will take place in a familiar American Heritage stomping ground.

The American Heritage wide receiver was officially named to the Under Armour All-America Bowl on Wednesday, which will take place at the Orlando-Citrus Bowl – site of the FHSAA football state championships. The Patriots have captured three of the past four Class 5A state titles and are ranked No. 1 in the latest Class 5A poll.

The speedy four-star wideout received his Under Armour jersey during a ceremony at the school. The exhibition, which features the top senior high school football prospects in the nation, will be played in Orlando on Jan. 4 and will be televised on ESPN.

“It’s a great honor and one of my dreams since I was little,” Schwartz said. “I just want to play to the best of my ability and show why I’m one of the best kids in the nation.

Utilizing his electric speed, Schwartz has emerged as a dynamic deepplay weapon for the Patriots’ offense. One of the top sprinters in the nation, Schwartz was also the Sun Sentinel’s boys track Athlete of the Year for Broward last year.

Schwartz, rated the 172nd prospect in the nation by 247 Sports, is deciding between Florida and Auburn for football, and Houston for track.

“It’s great to see these kids fulfill their dreams of being high school All-Americans,”

American Heritage coach Patrick Surtain said. “You can’t teach speed. Speed kills, and he’s faster than anyone in that game, so I expect the coaches to throw him a couple of deep balls. Maybe get some kickoff returns. Use what God gave him to his advantage and have a great game.”

Schwartz won’t be the only Patriot playing in a senior all-star contest. Last week, American Heritage sent three prospects to the US Army All-American Game. Cornerbacks Patrick Surtain II and Tyson Campbell, along with defensive tackle Nesta Silvera will take part in the contest.

“It kind of continues the tradition of American Heritage players,” Schwartz said. “Of course, we have three other players going to the Army Game and me to Under Armour. I feel like most people on my team could be at one of these games too.”

“It’s a great honor and one of my dreams since I was little. I just want to play to the best of my ability and show why I’m one of the best kids in the nation.” Anthony Schwartz
