Donation funds new center for Cleveland Clinic
Caregivers at the Cleveland Clinic Florida's Weston campus will be able to figure out how to react in an emergency situation before it even happens with some help from a recent donation.
Last month, the Harry T. Mangurian Jr. Foundation gifted $2 million to the Florida center, which will go toward a new simulation center.
The late Harry T. Mangurian Jr. Was a Fort Lauderdale-based philanthropist. He and his late wife, Dorothy, established a foundation in the late 90s, dedicated to advancing healthcare and education.
The simulation center being funded by the foundation will let caregivers replicate situations that could take place in an emergency department, operating room or critical care room according to a news release. It will be made available to residents and fellows enrolled in the campuses' grauate medical education program, nurses, technicians and other members of the local medical community.
“The Mangurian legacy lives on through the support of renowned organizations like Cleveland Clinic Florida and its mission, which includes furthering the education of those who serve,” Stephan Mehallis, the foundation's chairman and president, said. “The simulation center will be a valuable resource for caregivers seeking to build and maintain their skills.”
The simulation center is expected to open in spring of 2018.
