Extend waiting-area courtesy to all pick-up drivers at airport

I read the Sun Sentinel article about deputies ticketing drivers who park along Federal Highway by Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood airport. I drive part-time for Lyft and Uber. Rather than continuously driving around the airport area hoping for a pickup and wasting gas, many drivers prefer being able to pull over to the side of the road and shut their engines off to wait.

Taxis have designated areas within the airport to wait for passengers. Why can’t Broward County do the same for Lyft and Uber drivers? There are several locations on the airport property that are no longer in use that would be a viable option. We’re just trying to earn a few bucks to make our lives better — don’t put a lot of obstacles in our way.
