QB Driskel works on his passing

BOCA RATON — Florida Atlantic quarterback Jason Driskel is simply waiting to put it all together.

Even after tying the school record with four rushing touchdowns last week against Old Dominion, Driskel knows there is still room for improvement.

“It’s like one of the weirdest days I’ve ever had,” Driskel said. “We won, obviously. We scored a lot of points. All good things. I found the end zone a bunch of times, that’s good. Obviously, passing game is the thing that needs to improve, and playing quarterback, that takes precedence.”

Driskel ran 11 times for 92 yards, but the passing game continues to struggle. It’s not entirely Driskel’s fault because the receivers have made mistakes, too.

“He played great in one part of the game, the run game, and didn’t play great in the other part,” FAU coach Lane Kiffin said. “I’m sure he’d tell you the same thing.”

Driskel has completed 56 of 86 passes for 449 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. While the numbers aren’t exactly eye-popping, the one area Driskel has excelled in is the win department. The team is is 2-1 since he replaced Daniel Parr as the starter.

“First of all, I don’t really know what people say,” Driskel said. “I don’t care to be honest. I care what coach Kiffin and [coordinator Kendal] Briles have to say on Mondays when we come in and watch film. I care what my teammates have to say and what they think about me.”
