Steve Earle SoFla concert will be rescheduled.

Think of it as an early Hanukkah gift: A Fort Lauderdale concert by country-rock Renaissance man Steve Earle postponed on Sept. 8 due to the approach of Hurricane Irma, then apparently canceled, has been revived.

Earle is now set to perform 7:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at the War Memorial Auditorium, a stone’s throw from the stage scheduled for Earle’s original show at the Parker Playhouse. Tickets for the new date cost $49.50-$59.50 and are on sale at BrowardCenter.org, by calling 954-62-0222 and via Ticketmaster.com.

Ticket holders for the originally scheduled concert should have received email notice of that show’s cancellation and refund information. For further information, call the Ticketmaster customer service at 800-653-8000.

Steve Earle and the Dukes’ original opening act, Los Lobos, have been replaced on the new date by Brooklyn-based altcountry duo the Mastersons.

The prospect of Earle canceling his South Florida stop altogether was disappointing, as the tour is built around one of his best albums in years, “So You Wanna Be an Outlaw” (Warner Bros. Records), a return to the Texas-raised rebel’s hard-country roots.

The defiantly anti-Nashville music on the album, written with the specter of the late Waylon Jennings looming overhead, includes collaborations with Willie Nelson, Johnny Bush and Miranda Lambert.
