Bulls’ Flowers, Nadelman honored

For the fourth time in his record-shattering career, Bulls senior quarterback Quinton Flowers has been named American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Flowers earned the honor for the first time this season Monday, two days after totaling 516 yards — eclipsing his own USF single-game record — during the Bulls’ 37-20 victory at Connecticut.

Bulls kicker Emilio Nadelman, who made three field goals including a career-long 51-yarder, was named AAC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Flowers finished 24-of-37 for 385 yards and three touchdowns, missing B.J. Daniels’ single-game passing yardage record by 24 yards.

According to PFF College Football, Flowers was kept clean from pressure on 36 of his 42 dropbacks, posting a 133.6 quarterback rating when pressure-free.

Flowers now ranks 18th nationally in total offense (300.7 ypg), a 14-spot jump from this time last week (273.8). If he totals 357 yards on senior night Nov. 16 against Tulsa at home, he’ll break Matt Grothe’s school record for career total offense (10,875).

Additionally, Flowers needs seven more touchdown throws to break Marquel Blackwell’s career school mark (67), and is only 264 yards shy of former teammate Marlon Mack’s USF all-time rushing yardage record (3,609).

And Nadelman? He has made 18 field goals this year, one shy of the school season mark shared by Maikon Bonani and Delbert Alvarado.
