Querry among latest to commit to play

- —Staff report

The Delray Beach Open got more good news Friday when world No. 13 Sam Querrey committed to play in the 2018 tournament, scheduled for Feb. 16-25 at the Delray Beach Stadium & Tennis Center.

Also, 2014 Wimbledon quarterfinalist Nick Kyrgios, of Australia, and top-50 Canadian teenager Denis Shapovalov will be playing in the Delray ATP World Tour event for the first time.

The three players join world No. 9 and defending champion Jack Sock, world No. 11 and 2011 Delray Beach champion Juan Martin del Potro, of Argentina, and former world No. 4 Milos Raonic, of Canada, who all previously committed.

And don’t worry, 16-time Grand Slam champion and four-time Delray Beach champion Bryan brothers will be in the doubles field, as usual.

“I am super excited to make my debut in Delray Beach,” Kyrgios said in a new release. “It is a place I know well and have very fond memories of as I’ve spent a lot of time in the local area over the past few years. I feel very comfortable in Delray, and I look forward to stepping out in front of the great crowds and putting on a good show for the fans.”

Kyrgios is coached by a group that includes former ATP pro and Boca Raton resident Sebastien Grosjean.

Tickets can be purchased online at yellowtennisball .com, at the Delray Beach Open Box Office (30 NW First Ave.) or at 561-330-6000.
