Is­lan­ders’ Kulemin to miss 6 months

Left wing Niko­lay Kulemin had surgery to re­pair an up­per-body in­jury and will be out for six months, the Is­lan­ders said Mon­day.

Kulemin, 31, could miss the rest of the reg­u­lar sea­son, which ends April 7. He was in­jured in a 2-1 over­time loss to the Oil­ers at Bar­clays Cen­ter on Nov. 7.

Kulemin has three points (goal, two as­sists) in 13 games this sea­son.

Kuleimin signed a four-year, $16.75 mil­lion con­tract with the Is­lan­ders on July 2, 2014, and could be­come an un­re­stricted free agent on July 1.

The Hockey Hall of Fame wel­comed seven new mem­bers at an in­duc­tion cer­e­mony in Toronto. NHL greats Dave An­dr­ey­chuk, Mark Rec­chi, Teemu Se­lanne and Paul Kariya were joined by Cana­dian women’s star Danielle Goyette. Long­time Cana­dian univer­sity coach Clare Drake and Bru­ins owner Jeremy Ja­cobs en­tered the Hall of Fame in the builder cat­e­gory.
