Islanders’ Kulemin to miss 6 months

Left wing Nikolay Kulemin had surgery to repair an upper-body injury and will be out for six months, the Islanders said Monday.

Kulemin, 31, could miss the rest of the regular season, which ends April 7. He was injured in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Oilers at Barclays Center on Nov. 7.

Kulemin has three points (goal, two assists) in 13 games this season.

Kuleimin signed a four-year, $16.75 million contract with the Islanders on July 2, 2014, and could become an unrestrict­ed free agent on July 1.

The Hockey Hall of Fame welcomed seven new members at an induction ceremony in Toronto. NHL greats Dave Andreychuk, Mark Recchi, Teemu Selanne and Paul Kariya were joined by Canadian women’s star Danielle Goyette. Longtime Canadian university coach Clare Drake and Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs entered the Hall of Fame in the builder category.
