Scouting report: The Panthers host the Dallas Stars for just one game before hitting the road again with a three-game trip to California later this week. Florida has lost six of its past seven games after Saturday night’s 2-1 loss in New Jersey. After a homestand that saw the Lightning and Blue Jackets score a combined 15 goals against the Panthers, Florida’s defense has stiffened up in recent games. Against Buffalo on Friday night, it only allowed 25 shots on goal. Against the Devils on Saturday night, it only allowed 21 shots on goal. … The Stars come to Sunrise after playing in Carolina on Monday night. Entering Monday, Dallas defenseman John Klingberg led all NHL defensemen with 18 points (four goals, 14 assists). … Panthers forwards Derek MacKenzie (lower body) and Jared McCann (lower body) will likely miss Tuesday’s game. Jonathan Huberdeau (sick) missed Florida’s practice on Monday, but is probable to play today.
