No. 20 Northweste­rn snaps back

Bryant McIntosh scored 21 points and Scottie Lindsey added 20 to lead No. 20 Northweste­rn to an 82-74 victory over La Salle in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday in Uncasville, Conn.

The Wildcats (3-1) will face Texas Tech in Sunday’s championsh­ip. Northweste­rn has not won an inseason tournament since the 2013 South Padre Island Invitation­al.

Dererk Pardon had 14 points and seven rebounds for the Wildcats, and Aaron Falzon scored 11.

Northweste­rn made 12 of 21 3-point attempts and shot 56 percent.

After suffering its first loss of the season to Creighton, falling 92-88 Wednesday, Northweste­rn struggled early against the Explorers (3-1). Tied 13-13, the Wildcats loosened up with a 9-1 run that was capped by Lindsey’s layup at 9:38 to make it 22-14.

B.J. Johnson led the Explorers with 22 points.

Long-range bombers: No. 19 Purdue hit 19 of 31 from 3-point range and crushed Fairfield 106-64 in West Lafayette, Ind.

Dakota Mathias finished with a game-best 23 points, and Vince Edwards had 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Boilermake­rs (4-0). The Stags fell to 2-1.

Hall stays perfect: Desi Rodriguez scored 19 points and No. 22 Seton Hall used an 18-2 second-half run to shake off pesky NJIT for an 82-53 win in Newark, N.J.

Sophomore Myles Powell added 13 points to help the Pirates (4-0) win their 20th straight nonconfere­nce game at the Prudential Center. NJIT is 1-2.

Always in control: Daxter Miles scored a career-high 32 points to lead No. 24 West Virginia to a 111-48 rout of visiting Morgan State (2-2).

The Mountainee­rs (2-1) shot 45 of 77 (58 percent).

Layups: Isaiah Reese posted the first triple-double in Canisius’ 114-year history with 23 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds in a 104-84 win over Youngstown State . ... Pennsylvan­ia set a school record for margin of victory with a 99-40 rout of Penn State Brandywine, a member of the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Associatio­n. AP
