Dates set for hazardous waste collection

The Cities of Coral Springs, Coconut Creek, Tamarac, Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach have establishe­d a cooperativ­e agreement that will allow city residents several opportunit­ies to dispose of a full range of household hazardous materials at special one-day events throughout 2018.

Collection days are Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are as follows:

Dec. 2: Tamarac — 6011 Nob Hill Road

Jan. 13, 2018: Fort 2201 NW 9th Avenue

Feb. 3: Coral Springs — 121st Avenue

March 3: Coconut W. Copans Road

April 7: Fort NW 9th Avenue

May 5: Tamarac — Road

June 2: Pompano Beach — 1660 NE 10th Street

July 14: Fort NW 9th Avenue

Sept. 8: Coconut Creek — 4800 W. Copans Road

Oct. 6: Coral 121st Avenue

Nov. 3: Pompano Beach — 1660 NE 10th Street Dec. 1: Tamarac: 6011 Nob Hill Road Items that may be dropped off include:

Aerosol products, ammonia, antifreeze, auto fluids, auto batteries, boat batteries, boat fluids, charcoal starter, compact flourescen­t lamps, drain cleaners, fertilizer, fire extinguish­ers, flourescen­t tubes, gasoline, herbicides, household cleaners, insecticid­e, kerosene, lawn chemicals, lighter fluid, mercury thermomete­rs, motor oil, nail polish and remover, paint, pesticides, photo chemicals, pool chemicals, propane tanks, rechargabl­e batteries, rust remover, solvents, spot remover, turpentine, weed killer, wood stain, wood stripper

The $30 adoption fee covers spaying/neutering, flea and tick treatment, preliminar­y vaccinatio­ns and de-worming, wellness check, feline leukemia test, microchip, a bag of Purina ONE cat food, pet behavior helpline, 30-day trial of Trupanion Pet Insurance and limited 10-day follow-up care at participat­ing VCA Animal Hospitals (restrictio­ns apply, up to $250).
