Sensational news coverage hurting, not helping public
I amin noway a supporter of Donald Trump. However, Iwould tend to agree with him that, in this current state of affairs, the media are quite unreliable. Indeed, they may be the “enemy of the people.”
Right now, we are being inundated with stories of which candidate, celebrity, representative, senator, ex-president, president, Tom, Dick or Harry was lewd, crude, weird or criminal in their actions toward their subordinates, be they whichever gender. This has been a serious issue for a long time, and should be addressed.
Meanwhile, back in the hallowed halls of our Republican-controlled Congress, we are having a tax “reform” package thrown at us that seems to be on the back end of every newspaper or news report.
This tax “reform” package will end up costing working people more to support the corporations to whom the Republicans pay fealty. People will possibly see their tax rates go down, but later see their tax total go up. Certain deductions benefiting regular folks thatwere in place before the “reform” will either be further limited or disappear altogether.
This tactic is similar to when Gov. Rick Scott and the Republican-held Florida Legislature lowered taxes for big business, and the revenue short fall was made up by raising the fees for many things you and I use; things like licenses, permits, state park access, highway tolls and registration fees.
The media are not informing. They need to stop the robotic sensationalism. They should cover all the stories and quit diverting the entire attention of the electorate away from what is really happening around them and to them.
