TALLAHASSEE — Florida State football coach Jimbo Fisher sees the potential in defensiveendJoshuaKaindoh but is trying to temper expectation for his true freshman.

Kaindoh, whowas ranked as the nation’sNo. 3 defensive endin last year’s recruiting cycle, earnedACCCo-Defensive Lineman of theWeek honors onMonday after his performance in FSU’s blowout victory of Delaware State lastweek.

“Hecanbea reallygoodplayer inthe future ifheworks at it, which he does,” Fisher said after Kaindoh had four sacks and six tackles in the 77-6 win.

“He’s a very intelligent young man, a very conscientious young man and has a chance, I think, to be a really good player.”

Kaindoh, playing behind starters Josh Sweat and Brian Burns, has accounted for 15 tackles, with 5.5 tackles for loss during his freshman season.

But his standout four-sack performance against Delaware State tied formost sacks in a game by any player in the country this season.

“He’llwork at it,” Fisher said of Kaindoh’s ability to build onhis success. “He’soneofthosekids that willmaximizehis ability. I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t.”

FSU offensive lineman Alec Eberle said Monday that Kaindoh’s play has improved since getting better acclimated to the speed of college football.

“The kid is a freak. Look at him, he’s a specimen, honestly,” Eberle said. “He works hard, he’s a good dude and I think the sky’s the limit for him.”
