Lorraine C. Wilde driven to inspire
Lorraine C. Wilde, chief executive officer and managing partner, GO Airport Shuttle & Executive Car Service in Fort Lauderdale, was recently honored as the 2017 Outstanding Contributor to Women in Transportation, by the Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association. The award annually recognizes a person who has increased the influence, participation, and visibility of women in transportation. Wilde, who began her career as a taxi driver, works to inspire other women by setting an example of professionalism and positivity, she says. But being a woman isn’t what defines her. When she leaves her home each morning, she’s a business leader and a decision maker.
Reaching Out
Open-door: I have an open-door policy with my employees as well as drivers. I always try to be consistent in our goals so that all employees and contractors know what their roles are and what is expected of them.
Engage: I’m an active member of the TLPA, Miami Dade Limousine Advisory Group, Palm Beach County Vehicle for Hire Advisory Commission, and The Florida Limousine Association and have held positions on the boards of the Nova Southeastern University Dean’s Council, Pine Crest School, and the GFLCVB.
Strategies
Starting out: GO Airport Shuttle & Executive Car Service started as an idea in 1985 and in 1986, with 30 cars. We won the airport contract as the exclusive airport shuttle and car provider.
Experience: Starting in the industry as a driver with Yellow Cab of Hollywood gave me insight into the drivers and their perception of the job, their attitude and what was important to them. I also learned the most important things to provide to the clients so that they would have a pleasant experience.
Industry wisdom: My philosophy for operating any company that services people is “If you don’t take care of the customer someone else will.” We are dedicated to our customers by following through before, during and after service has been performed.
