Museum of Ice Cream a cool new addition to Miami Beach

- By Johnny Diaz Staff writer

South Florida is home to auto museums, science museums and an erotic art museum.

So a museum dedicated to ice cream seems like a cool new addition to the mix.

The Museum of Ice Cream, a pop-up, is expected to be open from Dec. 13 through mid-January at the Faena District, 3400 Collins Ave. in Miami Beach.

Although it’s called a museum, don’t expect to see a timeline on the origins of ice cream. The museum will serve frozen treats and have dedicated rooms sure to be Instagram-friendly, such as a colorful banana-themed room.

There are Museum of Ice Cream pop-ups in three other locations: Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York.

Courtesy photos provided by the museum look like scenes out of a Katy Perry video — with bright pinks, yellows and other candy-colored hues. (Actually, the pop singer has visited the Los Angeles museum and posted a photo on Instagram in a mini-swimming pool brimming with sprinkles.)

“Might have to go to the dr tomorrow and have sprinkles pulled out of my ear holes,” she posted.

Soccer star David Beckham and his family also stopped by the L.A. location in August and shared it on social media.

Tickets for visitors of all ages cost $38.
