Lucky’s $5K gift supports students
The Broward Education Foundation received a donation of approximately $5,000 from Lucky’s Markets in Plantation and Coral Springs.
The markets’ donation will support several of the foundation’s initiatives in Broward County Public Schools.
“Giving back to the local communities we serve is part of our DNA at Lucky’s Market,” said Store Director Andrew Smith.
“Education is something we are passionate about and we are thrilled to partner with the Broward Education Foundation for their inspiring initiatives.”
One of the initiatives that will benefit from the donation is the Garden Delights Program, which helps install edible gardens in Title I schools throughout the county.
The program incorporates academic subjects, such as math science, reading and writing, as students design, install, maintain and harvest the vegetable gardens. A total of 19 schools in the county participate in the program every year.
Funds of $758 and $540 will additionally go to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland and Maplewood Elementary School in Coral Springs, respectively.
“Thanks to partners like Lucky’s Market, we can fund vital programs that lead to successful educational outcomes,” said Broward Education Foundation Executive Director Shea Ciriago.
