Doctor Detour answers your transportation questions.

Q: There is a small parking lot at the Pompano Beach Tri-Rail station that fills up quickly. Is the public allowed to park in the big parking garage behind the train station or is it just for employees of the Tri-Rail offices next door? — Andre Mazetto, Coral Springs

A: Tri-Rail commuters can park in the four-story garage on the east side of the Pompano Beach train station. Many usually try to park in the smaller outdoor lot on the west side of the station because it is right off North Andrews Avenue.

You can access the 400-space garage using the Northwest 33rd Street railroad crossing from Andrews Avenue or you can go south on Northwest Eighth Avenue from Sample Road.

There are about 20 reserved parking spots on the ground floor of the garage for disabled parking and for members of the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority who oversee Tri-Rail operations. The rest are for the public.

There is no parking garage lot. charge or any for the Tri-Rail

Q: Are Dania Beach residents going to be able to enter and exit Interstate 95 express lanes from Stirling Road someday? We have no entry or exit points, just like Hollywood. — Shawn DeRosa, Dania Beach.

A: Yes, you will, but it might not happen until late 2019 at the earliest.

Exit and entry points will be added at Stirling Road and Hollywood Boulevard as part of the next phase of the 95 Express Lanes project, which extends the existing express lanes between Stirling Road and Broward Boulevard.

By 2024, there should be two express lanes in each direction throughout Broward County and into south Palm Beach County, including two flyover bridges connecting I-95 and I-595 express lanes.
