A Dolphins season of note

Columnist Dave Hyde sets the Dolphins’ year to our favorite holiday music.

- Dave Hyde HYDE, 8C

Forgive me. I know the holidays are considered the miracle season. But there’s only so far you can stretch the miracles for the Miami Dolphins in fantasizing their finish starting Sunday against the AFC West frontrunning Kansas City Chiefs.

You can, however, do something else this holiday season with the Dolphins to make their season less bah humbug. You can open your hearts to, “A Christmas Carol: The 2017 Dolphins.” Hey, when when Lin-Manuel Miranda first proposed the musical, “Hamilton,” few people embraced an 18th-century Founding Father without a father as a hiphop artist.

So let’s set this Dolphins season to holiday music and you’ll find yourself humming into the New Year. Consider this curtain-lifter to the season as set to, “Twelve Days of Christmas.” “On the first day of football, Ryan Tannehill tore his knee, And Jay Cutler played like a pear tree, On the second day of football, Lawrence Timmons let a no-show, Serve as his Opening Day hello ...” This leads into the second act and most sordid story of the Dolphins season. Nonetheless, you can mask the problems of offensive line coach Chris Foerster if you set the lyrics to an upbeat, “Jingle Bells.” “Cocaine platter, cocaine platter, Who heard the term ere that day? Then came video from a Vegas woman, Of the line coach snorting away. Hey! …” The season kept going on, which is to say it
